About Us
Mission
The purpose of the Southern York County Business Association (SYCBA) is to provide networking opportunities for business members, to provide leads and referrals, to perform community service and to strive to attract, promote and keep business in Southern York County, Pennsylvania.
Organizational Structure
The SYCBA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. Board members meet monthly, chair the association’s seven (7) committees and serve three-year terms.
SYCBA members represent large businesses and small, long established and brand new. They are united by a common bond of contributing to their community and helping their collective businesses grow.
SYCBA Committees
- Activities/Social – This committee plans social events and outings as well as promotional activities for SYCBA members.
- Advertising & PR – This committee promotes and publicizes the association both internally to membership and externally to the public at large.
- Communications/Web – This committee creates and maintains content for the association website and looks for opportunities to maximize public exposure and member benefits through online visibility, e-newsletter distribution, etc.
- Facilities & Speakers – This committee coordinates monthly meetings, including selection of guest speakers and meeting venues.
- Fundraising -- This committee oversees activities that permit SYCBA to raise donations to support and enhance the efforts of local non-profits.
- Membership – This committee manages member outreach activities and coordinates new member introductions.
- Scholarship – This committee selects recipients of SYCBA scholarships awarded to high school seniors.
History
The Southern York County Business Association is a young organization whose formative years have been dedicated to building organizational structure and identity, increasing community awareness and visibility, and laying a foundation of signature events and fundraisers–all structured around the core mission of building business, providing networking opportunities and powering community enhancement projects.
Accomplishments
In its first 10 years of operation, the SYCBA has:
- Held more than 100 monthly meetings open to membership
- Participated in and organized business expos to raise community visibility & awareness of SYCBA and its members
- Hosted special events to support community service/community enhancement projects and launched two signature events – a Chicken BBQ to benefit HOPE and a Wine & Cheese Social to benefit the Paul Smith Library of Southern York County
- Raised funds to benefit local non-profits
- Awarded scholarships
